On the River Gardens Property
- Enjoy tea or coffee in the gardens.
- Spend some time in the farm shop.
- Feed the chickens and collect the eggs. Feed petting animals.
- Explore the 133 acre property - creek, Campaspe river frontage, rocky outcrops and small forest.
- Photograph native birds and animals along the river.
- Fish the Campaspe river for Murray Cod, Golden Perch, English Perch and European Carp.
The Campaspe river at River Gardens has an average depth of two to four metres. River Gardens is at the end of a kilometre long hole that never goes dry. Access to the river from the property is reasonably easy. A Victorian Fishing License is required.
Murray Cod to 10 kilos have been caught and released again. Golden Perch to 3 kilos are not unusual. Lures and bait both work well. Bait yabbies may be caught in the river but they are not in big numbers.
Poppy Rose says the meals at the Axedale Tavern are GREAT! I can taste one of their juicy steaks right now.
